Biography
Callie (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Master Social Worker who currently sees clients via telehealth in the Ames area. She is experienced working with people with diverse backgrounds including LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC. Callie is diversity, equity, and inclusion certified. She utilizes a strengths-based focus, using evidenced-based therapy approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness, and Trauma-focused therapies. Callie works with individuals ranging from 16 years of age into adulthood. Most recently, Callie counseled high school aged youths in a school-based setting. She also worked in the hospital environment with patients of all ages and various needs. Before completing her BSW and LMSW, she worked with adults with intellectual disabilities (ID), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and physical disabilities, as well as preschool children in the school setting.
Callie also volunteered with youths aged preschool through high school age, and engaging in activities with adults in a care home setting. These experiences have reinforced Callie’s desire to work with individuals of various ages. Callie believes change starts with one small step in the right direction. A person’s willingness to invest in themself and strive to create the change they want to see leading them to counseling at this point in time. Healing and change start in these positive first steps. This is where Callie comes in, fostering a safe and comfortable environment to explore yourself, life experiences, and the things you want to be different in your life. Callie believes that empathetic and supportive interaction are the basis for growth and change to occur, while gaining awareness, knowledge, and the tools to improve your well-being and thrive. Callie seeks to identify the personal resilience and strengths that each person possesses and help them build upon them.
