Claire (she/her/hers) is a licensed social worker and therapist who sees clients in our Iowa City location. Claire is a strengths based therapist who believes in building upon your strengths and simultaneously building skills you need to navigate your world. Claire has extensive experience with DBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and CBT modalities. We will work on understanding past experiences, discovering and building values important to you, improving interpersonal relationships, building mindfulness skills, developing emotional regulation and distress tolerance, and building skills to support your dreams. Claire believes that the foundation of therapy is safety and trust.
Claires strengths lie with her ability to treat co-occurring disorders. In her work at UIHC and other local hospitals in Cedar Rapids, she has supported people healing from substance use disorders and mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, ADHD, OCD, and PTSD. Her specialty is supporting people through a wide variety of life transitions and providing tools to manage any stage in life.
Claire believes therapy is a collaborative experience and encourages you to discover and make the choices that are right for you. Claire has extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ folks, people experiencing substance related issues, anxiety related issues, personality disorders, and life transitions.
