Griffin (she/her/hers) is a licensed independent social worker (LISW) from our Coralville office who works with clients on a variety of growth areas. Griffin utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches including: emotionally focused therapy (EFT), radically open/dialectical behavior therapy (RO-DBT/DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems (IFS), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT). Griffin incorporates somatic experiencing tools, often referencing polyvagal theory and how increased body awareness can improve overall health and well-being. Griffin also embeds cultural humility, critical race theory (CRT), and systems perspective into her interactions with clients, colleagues, and community members. Griffin is an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), aiming to apply a neurodivergent affirming lens with all clients and their individual needs.

Griffin has worked clinically with individuals ranging from 9 years of age into adulthood. Most recently, Griffin served as a functional family therapist in Des Moines, Iowa working with youth and families involved with the juvenile justice system. Griffin also served there as the Co-Chair for the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training subcommittee where she created content, facilitated training, and collaborated with other staff to create more affirming spaces. Before completing her LMSW, Griffin worked as a counselor for elementary-age youth in a summer treatment program setting at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida, utilizing behavior modification techniques. Griffin has also provided services in criminal justice, youth residential care, private foster care, and school-based settings. All of these experiences reinforce Griffin’s passion for helping others to find empowerment, growth, and change in their lives as they move towards a more integrated and conscious-based, value-aligned existence.
