Jessica McKim (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in our Waterloo office who works with clients at all ages and stages of life. Jessica specializes in working with kids, teens, and young adults. Jessica takes a person-centered approach that focuses on the client's strengths and follows the needs of each person. The majority of Jessica’s experience includes working with clients that struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, family and relationship conflicts, and life transitions. Jessica aims to create a safe space to build trust and empower self growth in her clients. Jessica believes taking the steps to engage in therapy is a brave and vulnerable experience and her therapeutic philosophy revolves around honoring the incredible courage and self-compassion that it takes to grow, heal, and change. Jessica’s therapeutic modalities are integrative and include: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Play Therapy techniques. Jessica specializes in using these modalities to assist clients in healing from traumatic experiences, addressing unhelpful thinking patterns, and managing emotions. Jessica believes by connecting in a safe therapeutic space we can learn about ourselves, be seen, and feel connected in meaningful and authentic ways.
