Clinical Specialties

Kelsey (she/her/hers) is a mental health counselor at our Iowa City location working with a client population experiencing a variety of mental health concerns. Kelsey is passionate about working with children and adolescents. She has experience working with a diverse children and adolescents population dealing with anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, sexual orientation, gender identify, and trauma. Kelsey is passionate about working with clients who are/have experienced trauma, especially grief. She will help clients overcome challenging situations and build on self-awareness and resilience skills. 

Kelsey’s counseling approach is grounded in person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution focused therapy. She likes to utilize play therapy techniques and trauma-informed approaches as well. Kelsey places a large emphasis on building and maintaining a therapeutic relationship with clients, creating an empathetic supportive environment. Kelsey will meet her clients where they are at and provide the support needed to heal and enhance overall well-being. She is a life learner who engages in ongoing professional development to strengthen her counseling skills and abilities for clients.
