Leah (she/her/hers) is a mental health professional based in our Iowa City office who specializes in neurodivergence, OCD, anxiety and panic disorders, parental support therapy, and sex and intimacy issues. Leah welcomes clients ranging from 13 years of age into adulthood and is a neurodivergent- and PDA-affirming therapist. Leah has clinical experience with individuals of all ages and with couples. Her professional background is in suicide intervention and prevention, community mental health, and she has provided extensive mental health support to professional- and graduate-level students. Leah is also a certified Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trainer, and has a background in crisis counseling. She is committed to creating safe, developed relationships with her clients. As a neurodivergent therapist, she believes that mental health therapy is most successful when clients feel comfortable being exactly who they are and is meant to support each individual journey by identifying and building on a person’s existing strengths.
Leah’s therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, and sincere appreciation for each individual. She is client-focused in terms of identifying an appropriate therapeutic lens and often uses cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. She is formally trained in emotionally focused couples therapy, exposure and response prevention therapy, neurodivergent-affirming approaches, and has completed Level 1 training through PDA North America.
